Stop-motion animation film breaks world record! – VIDEO

Wow. I haven’t seen something like this for a long time. This was first posted on my movie blog here, and I decided to re-post it here.

Shooting entirely on Nokia smartphones, filmmakers broke the world record for the largest stop-motion animation set as they create Gulp on Pendene Beach in South Wales.

The short film broke the world record with the biggest scene stretching over 11,000 square feet of Welsh sand. Gulp tells the story of a hunter becoming the hunted as the tables turn on a lone fisherman after he lands a big catch.

Shot using only “Nokia smartphones”, the short film was created by directors Sumo Science, part of Oscar-winning animation studio Aardman whose most famous creations include stop-motion characters Wallace and Gromit.

Day by day remarks: open thoughts and a new idea

It’s nice to be learning something new every day. When I was younger, I wasn’t really interested in that. Last couple of years – I’ve changed my opinion on learning (mostly due to my exhausting work schedule). Some people say that “you won’t know the taste, unless you taste it yourself” – now, this can be said about almost anything, and its true as well.

I’ve stumbled upon another problem – if yesterday I was too lazy to learn something new, then today I simply lack time to learn something new, even if I want to. On the other hand, (I’ve read this in one of these filmmaking books that I bought on Amazon) – “You MAKE your own time”. This phrase is just as hard as a straight punch to the face. If you want to learn something – make your own time, and try your best to do what you got to do.

Some time ago, I wrote a post about some of my websites. And, couple of days ago, another “bright” idea struck me in the head, and (thank god, I did not delete those domains for good) I’ve decided to use one of those inactive websites for a new project.

Legendary martial arts champion Joe Lewis…is fighting for his life

Back in 2009, I interviewed Joe Lewis, arguably the best fighter that has ever stepped into the ring. Sadly, couple of days ago, Lewis announced on his Facebook page, that he had brain cancer, and was given from 6 to 8 weeks to live.

Lewis, is arguably, the best karate fighter that ever stepped into the ring. With him beginning his career, words as kickboxing and full contact were used for the first time ever. He was the first fighter that won the Heavyweight Kickboxing Championship in 1970.

In his 17 year fighting career, Lewis was a 7 times world champion, and was elected to various hall of fames 15 times. In his time, he won all the possible titles, including “World Karate Champion”, “World full contact Kickboxing champion”, “USA Black belts Kata champion”, “National US Kickboxing champion”. Lewis also studied Jeet Kune Do with the late great Bruce Lee. Twice Lewis was awarded as «the greatest fighter of all time».

SELFTALK – passing of Amy Winehouse

Yesterday we all heard about the sudden passing of Amy Winehouse. No one’s going to argue that the singer had a lot of fans all over the world, who were shocked by hear death, as well as other well-known celebrities. Below is a little self-interview I wrote, on this topic.

Were you shocked by the news?

To be honest, I was on Facebook, when one of my friends wrote this newsflash, and I was stunned for a minute or two, but I cannot say I was shocked. Everyone knew how Winehouse was, so it’s not like this was a huge shock to anyone.

Can you call yourself a fan of Winehouse or her music?

I believe, no one in their right state of mind would be a fan of a reportedly drug and alcohol addict. On the other hand, Amy’s talant was undeniable, and a lot of people, including me, respected that. After all, she did not win those Emmies for nothing. I dont call myself a fan, but I definitely had respect for what Amy did on stage.

Anyone you can name, who can take her place?

First of all, the singer has just passed away, I think its wrong at this time to talk about someone taking her place. Besides, I am not a big music fan so, I cant think of anyone who can just take her place right away. In my opinion, her death, aside from being a tragedy, should be a lesson to those, who “fly too close to the sun, and get burned”. Like I said on Facebook yesterday, this is the other side of showbusiness – you become a star, then, if you’re lucky you become a superstar, and you get these “addictions”, that slowly, as the time goes on, overtake you. And if you are not able to shake them off, or there are no people around you to help out, you just basically get “eaten alive” by these addictions. I believe, this is what happened to Winehouse. So, other showbiz stars should learn their lesson, and take care of themselves a little better, if not for the fans and the business, then just for themselves.

Many people believe that her music will be in even higher demand after this, let alone the dvd sales…

This might be true, as the same happened with Michael Jackson. That’s just the way people are, and that’s the way show-business works these days. The main point here is that a person has to have a head on shoulders, and try to maintain as much balance in life as possible, otherwise this can lead to unexpected consequences.

Mutant fruits and fake money… – PHOTOS

I clearly remember a year or two ago, I did not have this habit. Well, now I do – occasionally I photograph some things that happen around me, at work, at home, doesn’t matter, and I share them. In this post, I’ll share some of the latest ones with the readers.

First one. People in our office usually have their lunch breaks. Some prefer eating in the kitchen, others (like me) eat right at the office table, due to lack of free time. Anyway, that day, I decided to take a couple of shots of this giant mutant tomato, that our girls in the office brutally cut to pieces, and ate it afterwards. I dont remember seeing this big tomato in a while. Take a look at the pics below.

“Eurovision-2011” winners visited our office… and the outcome was…

Couple of days ago, “Eurovision-2011” winners Eldar Gasymov and Nigar Jamal visited our office. No, not because they really wanted to, and no, we didnt pay them to stop by. They were invited to participate in an online radio discussion.

So anyway, they came in, as usual talked about how busy they are these days, and so on. It was nice to see them – afterall they won, and in some sense, made the country of Azerbaijan a little richer – imagine all the tourists coming in next year!

Among the questions that Eldar and Nigar were asked was one about popularity…that “the popularity of a Eurovision singer lasts for only one year…”, I caught myself thinking that this in fact is really sad.

A small announcement: Some websites are dead…some were born…

Now, to keep it brief, about a week ago I’ve decided to terminate a couple of my websites, due to lack of free time. I just cannot keep up anymore. Its quite exhausting. Anyway, the websites that are not available anymore are “WeirdPaper”, and “InternetStreets”.

Naturally, if i had more time, I’d surely keep them alive (been putting my heart in them for some time, but just ran “out of gas” too fast), but at this moment, unfortunately I cannot. I did save them as a backup, so one day, they might see the light of day again.

The good news is that I’ve decided to put some of the energy that I’ve left into something I’ve always loved – movies. So, I opened a new website – BZFilm (bzfilm.com) – which is all about low-budget movies, filmmaking and all related to cinema. No mainstream stuff there, so if that’s what you’re into, skip this paragraph. I’ve managed to translate and gather ALL my interviews there (some of which are NOT published here), so feel free to check them out in the “Talks & Interviews” section on BZFilm. There are a bunch of other interesting cinema-related categories, which i try to fill in often.

Anyway, thanks for reading, feel free to click either on the link inside the text, or on the banner that I’ve just put on the right side block. If any questions arise, feel free to ask.

Thank you.
Teymur
