As usual, by the end of the week, I do podcasts for my working website. Today.az Podcasting is all about sharing interesting stories, unknown pieces of Azerbaijani history, and other informative data. This particular podcast is about the first Eastern opera – “Leyli and Majnun”, written by a famous azerbaijani composer Uzeyir Hajibayov. Learn about the birth of the opera, when first it was performed, and how it changed in about 95 years of its performance.
Here’s another podcast, that I did for my working website. Special thanks to “Visions of Azerbaijan” magazine, they publish some very cool stuff, very informative as well. The podcast is based on their article “The Stone-bound tales of a Sunken City”. Get to know the stor of “Bayil Castle” – a great architectural piece, the time it was built, how is a bull’s head connected to it, and other interesting things.
So, yesterday I finally did it – first english podcast was published on my working website (www.today.az). I didn’t even realize, talking on the mic can be this frustrating – it took me 5 times to make it right. Yet, after I finished, and listened to the result, i still didn’t like it. My voice was literally screaming accent.
Anyway, this particular podcast is dedicated to the famous Azerbaijani composer, Fikret Amirov. He is rightfully considered one of the greatest composers that Azerbaijan has ever produced. He is also the one, who created the symphonic mugham. Podcast features the story of Amirov’s rise, memories of his son, his teacher, and other interesting facts.
